Adventure for Conservation:

Volunteer Field Day in Box Springs Mountain Reserve

Join the University of California Riverside’s Center for Conservation Biology and Adventure Scientists for a Volunteer Field Day in Box Springs Mountain Reserve!

The Challenge:

The state of California is part of the 30 x 30 initiative — a goal to protect 30% of the land and sea area of the state by 2030. To do this, conservation priority areas need to be identified. A biodiversity survey of the state will help with this effort.

The Solution:

You can make a difference! Join our field day to help collect soil samples that will be analyzed for eDNA – environmental DNA that will reveal which organisms are present in the soil. The soil samples we collect will be processed at the University of California Santa Cruz to possibly discover new species in the soil.

Event Details:

When: Sunday, April 20, 2025, 1-4 PM
Where: We will shuttle from campus to the field day location.  Once you sign up, logistics details will be provided.

Please sign up for the project in advance and complete the online training! The form below serves as the RSVP and project sign up.
