Our Purpose, Impact, & Values
Our Purpose
We collect hard-to-gather field data that advances conservation solutions.
Our Method
Data collection is often expensive, time-consuming, and physically demanding, limiting the availability of critical scientific information. Adventure Scientists addresses this by designing and delivering field data efforts that train and mobilize outdoor enthusiasts and local communities to collect rigorous, decision-grade data in places that would otherwise remain unmeasured, advancing our partners’ conservation goals.
As a byproduct, many volunteers and community members develop a deeper engagement with conservation and science, and many go on to pursue conservation-related education, careers, or advocacy.
Our Impact
Critical conservation decisions are informed by reliable field data from places that were previously too remote, costly, or complex to measure.
Our Foundational Values
Leadership
On an expedition, leadership doesn’t come from a title. Anyone can lead by taking ownership, proactively solving problems, helping identify the best path forward, and asking for help when it’s needed.
Excellence
Conditions are rarely perfect, and that’s when standards matter most. We navigate obstacles and deliver work we’re proud of, no matter the terrain.
Learning
No expedition goes exactly as planned. We prepare the best we can, and once en route, we adjust as we go, seek feedback, and improve in real time.
Stewardship
We depend on one other and the resources we carry. We put the mission first, support our teammates, and act with long-term sustainability in mind.
Our Commitment
Adventure Scientists’ mission is fueled by our commitment to safeguarding the world’s ecosystems, for the good of humanity and the diversity of life on our planet. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of who they are and where they come from, feels included, valued, and safe.
We appreciate any feedback we receive to make sure our work and messages support and affirm everyone in our community.
