Conservation Field Day at the Santa Lucia Preserve with the Santa Lucia Conservancy

Conservation event in Carmel Valley on August 15th

Meet us at the Santa Lucia Conservancy office before heading out to the Santa Lucia Preserve to participate in community science. Together, we will collect insects, which will provide scientists with a better understanding of biodiversity in California, informing conservation efforts statewide.

Volunteer Event Schedule

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Meet and Greet before jumping into volunteer training.

You will learn:

  • How to properly collect and document biodiversity data.
  • Techniques for hiking and proper insect collection
  • How your data contributes to conservation efforts.

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: We will head up to the Santa Lucia Preserve (about a 20 minute drive from the Santa Lucia Conservancy Office).

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Hit the beautiful trails around the preserve, search for unique habitats, and collect insects!

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Celebrate your impact with a post-adventure gathering! Enjoy refreshments and social hour before heading back to Carmel Valley.
