Field Marketing Fellow – PNW Forest Biodiversity (Southern Oregon)

PNW Biodiversity

🌳About the Organization

Adventure Scientists is a nonprofit organization on a mission to protect the planet by pairing scientists with individuals uniquely capable of gathering difficult-to-obtain data. Our team collaborates with scientists worldwide to solve pressing environmental challenges, from biodiversity to climate change. Every role here offers a chance to make an impact on a global scale!

🙋‍♀️ About the Role

We’re looking for a part-time Field Marketing Fellow (contractor role) to help us document and protect wildlife across national forests in the Pacific Northwest. This is an exciting, explorative role ideal for someone already hiking, camping, climbing, or venturing through forested landscapes in the Pacific Northwest who wants to support science in a meaningful way.

You’ll help tell the story of what it’s like to participate in this project: sparking public engagement, inspiring volunteers to get involved, and building awareness around adventure-driven wildlife research in the Pacific Northwest.

You’ll be supported by our Communications Manager and receive a brand toolkit with all the guidance you need.

We’re looking for someone who already loves exploring wild places and would be excited to turn those outdoor adventures into something bigger! ☘️

💼 Responsibilities

  • Place and collect acoustic monitoring equipment while doing what you already love, hiking, backpacking, backpacking camping or exploring national forests across Northern California, Oregon and Washington.
  • Participate in at least 3 field days per month (these may be consecutive days or spaced out throughout the month, depending on the adventure)
  • Capture and deliver monthly content (15-30 photos, 3 short video/reel, and 3 drafted social media post).
  • Act as a brand ambassador: post flyers, build relationships with outdoor partners, and connect with potential volunteers.
  • Share positive conservation and habitat-focused messages online and in person
  • Submit deliverable on time and aligned with our content guidelines (toolkit provided)

    🎯 Skills & Requirements

    • Expertise in content creation (professional camera or high-quality phone) and storytelling through photography and short-form video.
    • Based in or able to spend at least 3 days/month in national forest regions of Northern California, Oregon, or Washington between March 2026 to August 2026
    • Passion for wildlife habitats, forest conservation, and ecosystem resilience.
    • Confidence being on camera and engaging with people in person.
    • Ability to work independently in field environments.
    • Stable internet connection for uploading files.

    💪 Extra Awesome Qualities

    • Knowledge of wildlife behavior, acoustic ecology, or forest ecosystems.
    • Previous involvement in conservation, research, or science communication.
    • Wilderness first aid, outdoor leadership, or backcountry skills.

    🌎 Location

Field-based across Southern Oregon and Northern California, with remote communication and coordination. Only applicants based in Southern Oregon and Northern California (or those spending significant time there for personal reasons) will be considered.

    💎 Compensation

Compensation of $500 per month, tied to deliverables, for the contract period of March through August 2026.

We offer non-negotiable compensation to ensure fairness, transparency, and equity for everyone in the hiring process. This approach allows us to uphold our commitment to pay consistency, eliminate bias in the hiring process, and create a culture of trust and clarity for all team members.
