Conservation Field Day in Los Padres National Forest with California Nature Art Museum

Conservation Event in Los Padres National Forest on August 17

Meet us at the California Nature Art Museum in Solvang to participate in community science. From the museum we will head out to the Los Padress National Forest. Together, we will collect insects, which will provide scientists with a better understanding of biodiversity in California, informing conservation efforts statewide.

Volunteer Event Schedule

7:15 AM – 7:30 AM: Meet at California Nature Art Museum (we will provide coffee and light breakfast snacks).

7:30 AM – 8:30 AM: How to take field samples training

You will learn:

  • How to properly collect and document biodiversity data.
  • Techniques for hiking and proper insect collection
  • How your data contributes to conservation efforts.

8:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Transport to Hike (we will try to carpool from the office if possible).

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Head into the field to explore the beautiful trails of the Los Padres National Forest, search for unique habitats, and collect insects!

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Celebrate your impact with a post-adventure gathering! Enjoy refreshments and social hour (we will provide light snacks and drinks)

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Transport back to California Nature Art Museum
