Conservation Field Day at the Santa Rita Ranch
Conservation event in San Luis Obispo County on August 16th
Meet us at Santa Rita Ranch to participate in community science. Together, we will collect insects, which will provide scientists with a better understanding of biodiversity in California, informing conservation efforts statewide. This is a collaboration with the Land Conservancy of SLO County.

Volunteer Event Schedule
9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Start the day with a hot drink, light breakfast snack, and our volunteer training.
You will learn:
- How to properly collect and document biodiversity data.
- Techniques for hiking and proper insect collection.
- How your data contributes to conservation efforts.
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Head into the field to explore the beautiful trails around Santa Rita Ranch, search for unique habitats, and collect insects!
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Celebrate your impact with a post-adventure gathering! Enjoy refreshments and social hour
