Conservation Events near Bend, Oregon on January 8-9th
Meet us in Bend for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and community science celebrations! Join the Tracking Whitebark Pine team for an early weekend kickoff in Bend, Oregon! We have two amazing events for you – join us for one or both.
These events are part of Adventure Scientists’ Tracking Whitebark Pine Project, in partnership with the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation. Ascend to the alpine regions of the Pacific Northwest and help collect critical data on whitebark pine trees, a threatened keystone species. Participants need the ability to safely adventure in a high-alpine region (either now or at a later time).
Please note that lift tickets on January 9 are not included in the registration.

Thursday, January 8th: 6:30 – 8 pm (Celebration with Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation)
Friday, January 9th: 12-1 pm (Lunch and Learn) and 1-3 pm (In the field)

Lunch & Learn & Look for Whitebark Pine on Mt Bachelor
Kick off your weekend a little early and join us for a free lunch at Mt Bachelor! Learn about the threatened keystone species, whitebark pine, and how your winter adventures can help protect it. Lunch will include how you can collect the critical data that land managers and researchers need to conserve whitebark pine.
Afterwards, join us for a ski out to a collection of whitebark pine stewarded by Mt Bachelor! We’ll get to see these important trees up close and in person. Snag a lift ticket in advance: HERE.
Can’t take the afternoon off to ski? No worries – just join us for lunch! You can always incorporate whitebark pine research into another winter adventure later. Lunch (and whitebark pine fun facts) provided.
