CA Biodiversity Event Mini-Stipend

Thank you for your interest in applying for the CA Biodiversity Event Mini-Stipend! This stipend is in support of dedicated volunteers who wish to lead their own data collection events for the 2024-2025 California Biodiversity project. It is designed to empower community leaders, reduce barriers to participation, and promote biodiversity research in California.

Stipend Details:

  • Amount: $300, to be received in the form of a gift card (Visa or Mastercard)
  • Purpose: To cover expenses related to hosting a CA Biodiversity data collection event (e.g., vehicle rental, equipment purchase, meals for participants, etc.)
  • Participant Requirement: We ask that you engage at least 10 folks in your event, with a minimum of 50 data samples collected (soils or insects).
  • Support Provided: Event guidelines, materials to ensure your event is a success, support in training (as needed).

Eligibility:

Appropriate recipients of this stipend may include:

  • Educators: Professors or teachers who want to take students into the field for data collection.
  • Community Groups: Birding groups, hiking clubs, or similar organizations interested in hosting biodiversity-related events.
  • University Clubs: Student-led groups looking to organize outings focused on data collection.
  • Many others! These categories are not exhaustive.
