Conservation Event near San Diego on August 15
Join us at Big Laguna Lake to participate in a community conservation event. Together, we will collect insects, which will provide scientists with a better understanding of biodiversity in California, informing conservation efforts statewide.

Conservation Day Schedule:
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Start the day with some breakfast, and learn about the project research and how you’ll be involved!
We will go over:
- How to properly collect and document biodiversity data
- Which trails are permitted for sampling
- Techniques for proper insect sampling
- How your data contributes to conservation efforts
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Head into the field to collect insect samples in a guided group or in your own small group.
1:00 PM – 1:30 AM: Celebrate your impact and drop off samples.

Join us for a hands-on insect collection adventure in the Cleveland National Forest and help safeguard California’s incredible biodiversity!
We’ll provide the gear, training, and lunch—you bring your curiosity and sense of adventure. No experience needed!
California is one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, and your efforts will help scientists monitor ecosystem changes and protect vulnerable species. All samples go to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County for ID.
This field day is part of the California Biodiversity Project, led by Adventure Scientists in partnership with Stillwater Sciences and the California Institute for Biodiversity.
